Temple Sports Medicine was the first center in the Pennsylvania region to provide comprehensive orthopaedic care for athletes of all levels—from the field to the operating room, into therapy and back onto the field. Temple University surgeons are the team physicians for professional, amateur, collegiate and high school teams.
Temple surgeons provide the latest treatments in joint replacement. Severe arthritis affecting the hips, knees, shoulders and elbows can be treated with the full spectrum of joint replacement options, including partial, total and reverse joint replacements. The newest option is MAKOplasty®, which involves using a robotic arm to more precisely position hip and knee implants – a critical factor for successful joint replacement surgery.
Temple spine surgeons utilize the most advanced and minimally invasive procedures in the management of spine conditions including herniated discs, radiculopathy and spinal stenosis. In particular, the newest techniques, including X-Stop® spinal decompression and spinal disc replacement surgeries, are available.
